A James Braid Course in Dublin
Howth Golf Club is situated in one of the most idyllic and unique settings amidst the Hill of Howth – 5 miles from Dublin. Howth Golf Course offers spectacular views over Dublin Bay, South towards Wicklow and North over the islands of Ireland’s Eye and Lambay as far as the Cooley and Mourne Mountains. The golf course/club is just 20 minutes away from Dublin City centre by car and 20 minutes from Dublin airport.
Howth is a true Heathland links Course situated a stones throw away from Dublin offering visitors online tee times and green fees.
Founded in Dublin circa 1916 the Heathland links style course was designed by the renowned golfer and course architect James Braid, a 5 times winner of “The Open” Golf Championship & boasts 14 top 10 Open finishes, who can count the design of the prestigious Kings and Queens Courses at Gleneagles amongst his greatest achievements. James was well known for including dog leg design golf holes in his course designs and the 5th hole in particular is an excellent example of how he blended a great golf hole into the unique Howth Heathers. The exceptional views from the 16th tee are worthy of mention in any golf guide. (“Take the Tour”)
Howth Golf Club – Dublin is the perfect blend of old and new. Traditional and modern trends have helped maintain the character of the golf course originally envisaged by James Braid, a special place to play golf and we are sure he would be proud of the course today.
